The Simulation Group is a recognized leader in medical simulation research. The multi-disciplinary team solves tomorrow’s technical challenges with practical results today. Projects focus on developing enabling science that supports medical simulation with an emphasis in training, medical education, and patient safety. Collaborative efforts between people and institutions are formed to solve problems in 3-D modeling, mechanical engineering, medicine, industrial design, tissue characterization, real-time deformable object modeling, and quantitative metrics. The research produces hardware and software prototypes demonstrating proof of concept. The solutions are broad in scope and have practical application for developers and end users. The resultant findings of the group have been published in numerous papers and presented at events around the world.
